Yes. Rental terms and rules about outside entertainers differ by facility, so ask the venue directly before you book the character.
That depends on the number of guests and the activities you want. An activity room or game room may suit a small indoor gathering, while a pavilion may work better for an outdoor afternoon. Ask the department what each space includes.
You can discuss options with the character and the venue, such as games, a story time, or photos. Confirm what is possible in the space you reserve.
Columbus has several city-operated parks and recreation facilities that families sometimes consider for a birthday gathering. Before choosing a character and a location, it helps to know which kinds of spaces the city rents out and what a parent should check with the facility, since rental rules and entertainer permissions are set by each venue.
Columbus Parks and Recreation says that several outdoor spaces, including covered pavilions, picnic areas, and fields, can be rented or reserved through the department. A covered pavilion can suit a party with a table-and-food setup, while an open picnic area may be better for a more relaxed afternoon. Ask the department whether outside entertainers may perform in the space you reserve, and confirm how the character visit will be set up on the site.

The city also offers indoor recreation center facilities for rent, including game rooms, gyms, kitchens, and in some cases an entire center. The Michael Fluellen Recreation Center at 2824 8th Street lists a game room, a multi-purpose activity room, a full-sized kitchen, basketball courts, a playground, and a memorial garden. Because the center sets an age rule for children inside the building, check its current policy with the staff before planning a visit with younger guests.

The city's recreation center list includes the Psalmond Road Supercenter at 6550 Psalmond Road. If you are comparing locations, ask the department whether that site is available for private rental and what room or area would host the visit.
