For a birthday or picnic that is not being held in one of the parks with its own booking arrangement, the registration and reservation office is the place to start. If you are interested in a particular recreation center, call that center directly to reserve its space. Ask at the time of your call what the booking involves and whether an outside entertainer can be part of the plan.

A nature-themed party at Jerome Buddie Ford Nature Center, for example, has been offered as a two-hour format built around live animals, an animal feeding, and a naturalist-led outdoor hike. You might ask whether a costumed character could join a themed version of a visit like that, or whether a recreation center's indoor game room, dance room, or activity rooms would suit a character-led program better.

Before booking, ask whether the space you choose allows an outside costumed entertainer, how long the room is reserved, and what cleanup is expected. Confirm the date and time in writing, and ask which rooms or outdoor areas are included so you can plan the layout around your character.
