Offer a wave, a brief hello or simply watching. Let the child choose and avoid making physical contact part of the plan.
Pick a clear spot and invite guests to join only if the child is comfortable. A smaller photo with a caregiver is another option.
No. Ask our team to confirm the program, cost and availability. A date request is not a reservation or payment.
For Colonial Heights, Virginia, plan the visit around the birthday child's comfort rather than a fixed entrance. The character can begin with a wave, pause for the child to choose a greeting, then invite willing guests into a short activity. Keep photo-taking optional and leave an open path to a quieter spot. The supplied facility example concerns Alexandria, not Colonial Heights, so verify your chosen venue directly. Ask our team about program details, costs and availability.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
As a city-scoped example within Virginia, Alexandria municipal facilities provide different picnic-season and indoor rental options. Alexandria distinguishes its picnic season from year-round indoor rentals. For a party outside the picnic season, check an indoor reservation path and verify the actual opening hours of the chosen room. This example applies only to Alexandria's listed municipal facilities; other cities and state-managed parks have separate operators and rules. Confirm the exact venue's reservation process and permission for hired entertainment.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
