No. Make a wave, a short greeting, and watching from a distance equally acceptable choices.
Invite willing guests after the birthday child has had a calm moment. Keep the photo brief and optional.
Only after details are confirmed. Ask our team about the requested theme, program, costs, and availability.
In Rotterdam, build the character visit around one clear moment for the birthday child, with no pressure to perform. A warm wave can lead to a choice between a brief hello and watching from a familiar adult. Plan a simple photo with immediate family, then let guests opt into their own turn. If using a pavilion, consider whether its capacity and layout suit the group and the visit plan. These are statewide planning checks and parent suggestions, not verified Rotterdam venues or local rules. Ask us or our team about the requested theme; confirm program details, costs, and availability.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
New York State Parks describes a range of pavilion and event rental sizes and amenities. Check the exact facility's capacity, layout and regional booking conditions before choosing a gathering plan. Confirm whether a hired character visit and any equipment are permitted; the statewide rental page does not establish that every activity or date is available.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
