Do not assume so. Ask the park about separate gathering space and permission for hired entertainment.
Start with a group greeting and let each child choose whether to wave, pose for a photo or watch.
Contact our team to confirm the requested theme, program, cost and availability. A date request is not a booking or payment.
For Rush, Kentucky, decide first whether your gathering is tied to an overnight stay or a separate event space. Keep the character visit light: a warm group greeting, an optional photo and an invitation to participate without putting any child on the spot. Ask us about the requested costume theme and confirm program details, cost and availability. State park lodging reservations do not establish event permission, and local facilities are unverified. If any part of the party is outdoors, plan a genuine indoor alternative before the day.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Kentucky State Parks' FAQ describes reservations for lodge rooms, cottages and campsites. If the plan includes an overnight stay, check the current booking and cancellation conditions for that accommodation. Contact the actual park about separate gathering space and hired entertainment; an overnight reservation does not establish birthday eligibility or event permission.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
